Destination Video Production for Ocean Isle
When Lewis Advertising reached out for help with a tourism campaign, we jumped in with enthusiasm. Their client, the Town of Ocean Isle Beach, needed a destination video production campaign that would entice families to choose Ocean Isle for their next summer escape. The campaign slogan—Ocean Isle Style—set the tone for a series of calming, beautifully shot 15-second videos designed to stand out from the noise.
Visualizing a Getaway: Creative Choices with Purpose
We created seven video shorts in total. Each one was crafted to highlight Ocean Isle’s unique atmosphere—peaceful, spacious, and family-friendly. Unlike some louder, more commercialized beach towns, Ocean Isle offers a more tranquil experience. We leaned into that contrast through carefully considered stylistic choices.
One of the most distinctive elements was the use of natural sound design. Instead of dialogue or narration, each piece relied on the ambient soundscape of the beach, waves, or nature. This quiet approach gave viewers space to imagine themselves in the scene—relaxed, unplugged, and far from daily stress.
Sound Meets Story: Subtle Messaging
The concept extended into the text graphics featured in each video. These paired playful corporate-world terms—like “Streaming” or “Online Chat”—with the calming visuals of fishing, kayaking, and beach walks. The message was simple: Ocean Isle offers a different kind of productivity—one focused on rest, not Zoom calls.
We shot all seven spots over two packed days. Sunrise scenes required early call times, and we pushed our gear to the limit—rigging a camera to a jib over the ocean for a fishing shot and rolling it across sand for beach footage. We also flew a drone low over the Intracoastal Waterway for some sweeping kayak visuals.
Results and Reception
Despite the short runtime of each video, every shot was deliberate. We worked hard to make the footage feel effortless—even as we tackled complex angles and moving shots. The client launched the campaign in the fall and used it through the holidays to promote early summer bookings.
These 15-second films now serve as a shining example of how thoughtful destination video production can bring a place to life—and turn interest into bookings.
