As always, we love using animation to simplify complex concepts into understandable content. This two-part animation series did just that.
The Challenge
North Carolina Electric Cooperatives needed a simple, engaging way to explain the concept of microgrids—how they work and why they matter to communities. Microgrids are essential for energy reliability and sustainability, but the technical nature of the topic made it challenging to communicate to a broad audience.
The Solution
We created a two-part animated series to break down microgrids into digestible, engaging content—each video under a minute long. The animations used clean, approachable visuals and clear storytelling to ensure viewers could easily grasp the key points.
- Microgrid Chapter 1 introduces microgrids as smaller power grids that can operate independently from the main grid. If the main grid goes down, microgrids keep the lights on. They can also incorporate alternative energy sources like solar and large batteries, making them a cleaner, more sustainable solution.
- Microgrid Chapter 2: What is the Purpose of a Microgrid? expands on the concept, showcasing how microgrids help communities and electric cooperatives work together to save energy and money—especially during high-demand periods.
The Impact
By blending animation with storytelling, we transformed a complex energy concept into an easy-to-understand, engaging narrative. The animations provided North Carolina Electric Cooperatives with a powerful tool to educate their members and communities, reinforcing their commitment to innovation, sustainability, and reliable energy solutions.
