A Stormwater Education Video That Entertains and Informs
Creating a stormwater education video that actually entertains people isn’t easy—but that was the challenge the Town of Fuquay-Varina brought to our team. Their Engineering Department wanted to help residents understand stormwater pollution in a way that was fun, engaging, and memorable.
Most educational content on this topic tends to be forgettable. So, together, we set out to change that.
Stormwater, But Make It Cinematic
To break through the noise, we developed a four-part series of short films. Each one spoofs a popular movie genre while delivering actionable tips about stormwater pollution. Humor, drama, suspense—they’re all in there.
A mysterious recurring character named Storm Walter appears in every video, making the message stick while keeping viewers curious.
- “Stormwater Activity” (Horror Spoof)
- Premise: Two frightened girls are followed by a mysterious character. As they run into their home, he follows them – giving them a very important message about stormwater.
- “An Illicit Affair to Remember” (Romantic Drama Spoof)
- Premise: Storm Walter saves a heartfelt proposal in the rain while preventing stormwater pollution.
- “The Good, The Bad, and The Stormwater” (Western Spoof)
- Premise: A Wild West Sherriff confronts a mysterious bandit, who just might happen to be Storm Walter.
- “The Storm Ultimatum” (Action/Suspense Spoof)
- Premise: Storm Walter helps a police officer disarm a bomb as he tries to pass on his important information about stormwater.
Using Storytelling to Change Behavior
Stormwater pollution affects everyone, but many don’t understand their role in it. That’s why this stormwater education video series worked so well—it made complex issues feel simple, even entertaining.
By mixing genre parody, humor, and clear messaging, we created something people not only watched—but remembered and shared.
Final Thoughts
We love projects like this. They prove that even the driest topics can become something unforgettable with the right story and creative direction.
