Start Something – Community Video + Design Campaign

Town of Knightdale
This dynamic campaign uses lifestyle-driven video and cohesive design to invite residents and entrepreneurs alike to “Start Something” in Knightdale.

A Place Where Something New Begins

The Knightdale video campaign tells a story of possibility—encouraging people to live, work, and build something meaningful in the heart of town. The Start Something campaign was created to inspire people to invest in Knightdale, whether that means launching a business, planting roots, or simply showing up more fully in their community.

As a longtime client, the Town of Knightdale turned to us to create a campaign that would feel as vibrant and welcoming as the town itself.

Campaign Goals

To start, Knightdale had three clear goals:

  • Inspire entrepreneurs and individuals to start something new in Knightdale
  • Highlight Knightdale’s quality of life and spirit of opportunity
  • Extend the campaign into physical spaces with matching banner designs around town

The Creative Approach Behind the Start Something Video

We knew the Knightdale video campaign needed energy, authenticity, and a clear message of invitation. Here’s how we brought it to life:

Video Production Highlights

  • Upbeat Music: A positive, driving score to energize the piece
  • Lifestyle Footage: Real residents enjoying life—families, entrepreneurs, everyday people
  • Graphic Overlays: Highlighting key themes like growth, community, and opportunity
  • Mayor Day’s Invitation: A warm call-to-action straight from the heart of the town

In fact, much of the footage was drawn from a previous project, proving the power of strategic content reuse. With an ongoing client relationship, we were able to build on past work while still creating something fresh and compelling.

This Knightdale video campaign not only encouraged community pride—it also created consistency across digital and physical platforms.

Extending the Story Through Design

While our studio is video-first, we also developed a set of matching banner designs to bring the campaign into public spaces. As a result, these designs mirror the tone, typography, and message of the video, creating consistency across media.

Key Design Elements:

  • Color Palette: Bright and lively, echoing the video’s energy
  • Typography: Pulled directly from the motion graphics used onscreen
  • Language: Verbal cues and taglines pulled from the script
  • Imagery: Stills from video footage and lifestyle images captured in Knightdale

These banners were displayed throughout the town, giving residents a visual thread that tied their streets back to the story they saw online.

Why It Worked

  • Unified Message: Video and design worked hand-in-hand to reinforce the call to “Start Something”
  • Community Focus: Real people and real places made the content feel personal and rooted
  • Scalable Strategy: The blend of reused assets and new creative made this campaign both efficient and fresh
