Puppy Panic Room

ThunderWorks
Just ahead of their biggest time of year – the 4th of July – we helped ThunderWorks create a national broadcast commercial to promote their ThunderEase line that helps keep pets calm during fireworks — and other scary stuff.

Video Production for Dog Company ThunderWorks

ThunderWorks, the brand behind the popular ThunderShirt and ThunderEase products, partnered with us for a national commercial timed with fireworks season. Their goal was simple: reduce pet anxiety with a memorable, relatable campaign. Our team delivered custom video production for a dog company that combined live-action charm, visual storytelling, and 3D animation—all wrapped in humor.

A Concept Built for Contrast

To show just how easy ThunderEase is to use, we built the spot around a wild, over-the-top alternative: a fully outfitted “puppy panic room.” This gave us a great opportunity to blend comedy with heart while highlighting the product’s real-life benefit. The exaggerated setup made the actual solution feel that much simpler and more effective.

Final Location Scouted Home

Animatic

We started by building an animatic to map out the pacing, framing, and tone. That step also helped guide location scouting and allowed the art team to begin set dressing early—right down to the fake dog magazines and paw-print mugs.

Bringing the Space (and Story) to Life

Once filming began, we combined practical effects and prop work with a calm, camera-ready pup to bring the concept to life. Even though filming with animals can be unpredictable, our four-legged star Theo nailed it. He brought just the right emotion to each scene.

Later in post-production, we layered in animated elements like ThunderWorks’ mascot “Thunder” and the 3D panic room itself. These additions had to feel cohesive with the real-world set, so we paid special attention to lighting, shadows, and tracking.

A Spot That Stands Out

This project was a fun reminder that video production for dog companies—and other pet-focused brands—doesn’t have to play it safe. By mixing storytelling with style, we created a commercial that gets remembered and shared.
