What started as a show opener for an annual fundraiser turned into a sweet and meaningful brand piece for an impactful nonprofit organization. Crafted entirely with computer-generated imagery, this piece invokes feelings of nostalgia and hope.

A CGI Story of Hope That Soars

When Children’s Flight of Hope approached us to create a short video for their annual fundraiser, the initial plan was a powerful show opener. But as the creative concept took shape, it quickly became clear: This wasn’t just an opener—it became the Children’s Flight of Hope brand video that now defines their message.

Children’s Flight of Hope provides air transportation for children who need access to life-saving medical treatment far from home. Our goal was to communicate this mission with emotional resonance, visual metaphor, and universal relatability.

Tapping Into Childhood Wonder

To convey both the joy and challenges these families face, we leaned into a powerful symbol: toy airplanes. Each one represented a child helped by the organization. These weren’t just props—they became metaphors for the flights of hope made possible by donors and supporters.

We chose to build the entire piece in a fully computer-generated world. Why CGI? Because we wanted toy planes to come to life and fly—something only digital storytelling could accomplish convincingly.

Building a World With Meaning

The animated home we created was filled with personal details: framed photos of real children supported by the nonprofit, crayon drawings pinned to walls, scattered mail, and handwritten cards from loved ones. Every element was placed to create a feeling of lived-in warmth and quiet resilience.

Next to each child’s photo sat a toy plane—unique in color and design—ready for takeoff. As the heartfelt voiceover unfolds, propellers begin to spin and the planes come alive.

They begin their journey, each flying out of its scene.

A Shared Destination

As the piece builds to its emotional crescendo, all the planes converge in a final room where a spinning globe sits atop a coffee table. The planes begin to orbit the globe, representing the global reach of Children’s Flight of Hope—and the critical air travel they provide to children everywhere.

The voiceover closes with a simple, powerful truth:

“No matter the miles, no matter the frequency, Children’s Flight of Hope is there.”

Why It Worked

  • Emotional Storytelling: The video taps into childhood nostalgia while honoring the seriousness of each family’s journey.
  • Creative Use of CGI: The digital format enabled a magical, symbolic moment that couldn’t have been captured practically.
